A business management and engineering graduate from Strathclyde University, Michael joined Netherfield Visual as Production Manager in 1988. After a period of significant expansion within the company he became Product Development Manager, responsible for the technical design of Netherfield’s precision-engineered all glass showcase systems and the supporting software and information systems. In 2000, Michael assumed the position of Technical Director for Netherfield Visual and following the strategic merger between Click and Netherfield, Mike continues the expanded role of Technical Director. Leading a team of design experts, Mike’s brief is as technical lead on the company’s major projects nationally and internationally. In his daily role, Mike continues the design and development of new systems that will ensure ClickNetherfield continue at the forefront of high quality museum display case manufacture. Mike and his team have had major success recently with the launch of the company’s Evolution modular demountable product and booming sales prove the quality of the design and function of this new system. Mike continues to be actively involved in product development and the operational aspects of the company’s major projects and in particular the validation of the structural integrity of case designs and other structures.
Relevant Experience 18 years experience in the design development and engineering of display cases, balancing design aesthetic and appropriate access with structural integrity, air change requirements and security. Mike has extensive knowledge of the specialist materials that can be used within showcases such as adhesives, fabrics and sheet materials as well as lighting systems, environmental control methods and security systems. He is also somewhat of an expert on specialist glasses including production methods, processing equipment, bonding, handling and installation methods of huge sheets weighing up to 500Kg. Mike has been responsible for the development of two generations of Netherfield and TESS products and is currently developing the new ClickNetherfield product ranges.
